Erin Luther A transplant from New Jersey, Erin loves hosting family and friends in her new home, which she shares with her adorable puppy Norman, and her passion for Peloton. A graduate from Clemson (Go T-I-G-E-RRRR-S!) Erin thrives day-to-day on collaborative, creative thinking with her team of IT consultants. She always makes sure to find time for her nieces and nephews and approaches daily life with a smile. Our Mission We offer you meaningful and handcrafted accessories that outfit your home and compliment your everyday life. Sarah Pridgeon Born and raised in Germany, Sarah is no stranger to travel and loves to indulge in worldly food. A degree in architecture combined with her experience in graphic design, allows her creativity to shine in and around her home. She enjoys taking advantage of the Florida outdoors by strolling around the neighborhood with her two fur babies, going for a run, and putting her green thumb to the test. About Us Get to know the two friends, neighbors, and co-owners that are behind the founding of Laurel Reath and its mission. Our Founders Our Story Once upon a time, in the quaint little Lake Nona neighborhood of Laureate Park, a magical story began… (you know we had to pay tribute to Disney so close by) It’s the story of Erin and Sarah, two friends and neighbors, who became closer neighbors (literally), even closer friends, and then founders of Laurel Reath. We’re all familiar with the saying ‘when life gives you lemons,…’, well friends, even during a crazy year of pandemic we found lemons and made some lemonade. 2020 was a trying year for us all and we saw so many people turn to new creative outlets just to make it through. It was during this time that we discovered we had so much more in common than living in the same awesome neighborhood, across the street from each other, showering our four-legged fur babies with attention and love. It was the shared passion for decorating our homes, the one place we were suddenly bound to for the unforeseeable future, that really brought us together. Erin had just purchased a new home and had a blank canvas to work on while Sarah was in the middle of her own outdoor remodel. We shared concepts, ideas, usages, and colors. We continued sending each other pictures of products that were useful and added decorative value to our homes. Then one day our friends (also neighbors) asked us to plan their baby shower (for the cutest baby boy, Hudson) and that’s when we realized, we have a true passion for unique decor and its personal touch. We understood that it was beyond just supporting our neighbors and friends during this challenging time, but involving them and their beautiful artisanal skills throughout that special day. That’s how the idea of laurel reath was born. What will be next in store for her and you? Sarah Pridgeon The Interview Have you always lived in Florida? No, I moved to Florida in 2010. I have been living in Orlando for the past 7 years now. In case Florida hasn't always been your home, where are you from and what do you miss the most? I'm originally from Southwest Germany. The thing I miss the most, besides my family and friends, is the different cuisine, followed by the scenery and culture. How did you get into your crafty specialty? I'm a true DIYer at heart. When I see something I like, the first thought that pops up in my mind is, if I can create it myself. I enjoy knowing/finding out the process of how things operate, maybe my architectural background plays a role in that. How would your family and/or friends describe your artisanal crafts(wo)manship? They probably would say that my creative determination is endless. This is also one of the reasons why I wanted to found Laurel Reath. We want to share this opportunity with other artisans and spread the love for unique handmade creations. Where do you get your inspiration from? From anywhere really. Noticing something while outside or traveling. Browsing through Pinterest and the web in general. Is there any other skill set you are interested in acquiring or already carry out? In general, I'm always open to trying out new things. I also really love combining different acquired skills. What else do you enjoy doing besides creating fun and unique products? I like spending time outside. Especially now that we have a pool, it makes Florida in the summer so much more tolerable. Sandee Varela The Interview Have you always lived in Florida? Yes. For the last 35 years. What do you like most about living in Florida? The weather, even hurricane season to be honest...lol. And of course the diversity of cultures. How did you get into your crafty specialty? I lost my job due to covid, I needed to find something to do that would help ease my anxiety. I tried many things such as painting, pottery, resin but nothing made me feel what candle-making does. It's therapy, it's relaxing, and it calms me down. I felt amazing especially knowing that every candle that I made was made with pure love. There's a connection that I have with my craft. Battling anxiety is something I'm very open about, and I decided to put myself first and "Love". How long have you been executing your unique skill? I'm so excited because 2021 marks my one year already. Is there a special reason or meaning behind you picking this specific expertise? It all started as therapy. Like I mentioned before I battle anxiety and I don't know what I would do without it. How would your family and/or friends describe your artisanal crafts(wo)manship? HaHa!!! They probably would start by calling it OCD...lol. Then they would also mention that everything has to be done the right way. I just truly nurture my creations. Is there any other skill set you are interested in acquiring or already carry out? I'm really interested in learning about the creation of other products complimenting my candle business.
